Antique Mantelpiece Mirror Bevelled Glass
An antique overmantel mirror with a beautifully decorative carved solid wood frame.
The mirror features two kidney-shaped mirror plates, both displaying some light foxing and age-related marks in keeping with its age.
The frame has been painted in a warm beige/cream colour at some point in its history and is decorated with ornate carved detailing, scrolling motifs and three small display shelves, which would be ideal for placing candles or small decorative objects to reflect the light. One of the shelves has a small chip.
The flowing carved forms give the piece an Art Nouveau appearance, although the styling also has elements of the late Victorian/Edwardian decorative tradition.
Dating from around the early 20th century, this is a particularly decorative and unusual piece that would make a great focal point above a fireplace, console table or sideboard.
