Colonial exhibition currently at the V&A museum in South Kensington featuring the life of John Lockwood Kipling (1837-1911) in Victorian British India.
There are many great works to be seen but we especially enjoyed the imagery of Lahore in Pakistan and found it very atmospheric and moving. Lockwood Kipling's hand drawn sketches of labourers and workers give a great insight into manufacturing in India 100 years ago.
Drawing, John Lockwood Kipling, 1870, India.
If you are in any doubt who Kipling was then this is a perfect chance to get out there and experience what he did for the arts and crafts movement in the Punjab and London.
We also recommend an Indian meal at Gymkhana in Mayfair to complement the experience!
