There’s something very satisfying about bringing an old piece back to life — especially when it has this much character.
I recently picked up this early to mid 20th century vintage metal garden bench. Underneath the rust, peeling paint, and years of weathering is a beautifully shaped bench with elegant scroll arms and lots of original charm. Structurally it’s solid and heavy, exactly the sort of quality you rarely find in modern outdoor furniture.
Now comes the difficult part…
Rather than restoring it in a predictable colour, I thought it would be fun to let everyone decide.
I’ve mocked up the bench in a range of different powder coat finishes, from classic heritage tones to some brighter and more unusual options. Once the votes are in, I’ll have the bench professionally powder coated in the winning colour and document the whole process here on the blog and on Instagram.

The Forest Green feels timeless and traditional. The Ox Blood Red gives it a rich vintage railway-station look. Gun Metal feels modern and industrial. And the Dark Peach somehow works far better than it should!
